27th & 28th November 2027
Monster Bash VI: The Ghost in the Cage, is a two day six-match resurrection style tournament. This means all players return to their starting status after each game regardless of any events which may have occurred in a preceding match. The first matchups between coaches will be drawn randomly with the remainder based on the Swiss tournament format.
Final standings will be ranked using a system of tiebreakers in the following order:
Each coach is allocated gold coins to spend on team building as per the table below. Team building includes purchasing players, staff, rerolls, permitted inducements and dedicated fans. All normal rules for team building apply and you are required to have 11 players before adding a Star Player to any team. Although Star Players and their special rules are permitted, they are limited based on your race's tier and the fact that only certain Star Players have shown an interest in competing in the tournament. If both you and your opponent roster the same Star Player, both can use that star.
2025 (Season 3) rulebook and corresponding spike magazines are allowed except for the following exceptions:
If Riotous Rookies are hired they are rolled before each match, please ensure you have painted miniatures for the extra journeymen, which can be identified as the rookies.
Please note that these rules are subject to change and can be changed based on new information throughout the year based on 2025 rules.
As is tradition at Monster Bash each coach gets a free monster to join their squad, maybe scare the opposing coach and hopefully add some luck to the proceedings. This monster takes the form of a mascot (rules for a "Team Mascot" are located on page 144 of the Season 3 rule book) for the entirety of the tournament. The monster mascot is free and does not count towards team value for the purpose of team building. You must provide a painted model to represent your mascot. This year the mascots are to have a Cyberpunk/Cyborg theme.
For the sake of clarity in this rule pack we will refer to players who have had additional skills/stat increases added as "skilled" and ones with only the skills they come with as "unskilled". All skills are chosen and are not allowed to be random.
Only tier 5 & 6 races have access to stat increases, however you can only choose to take a stat increase at the cost of a Star Player spot. For example a Halfling coach could take two Star Players or one Star Player and one stat increase or two stat increases only. They can't take two stars and two increases.
Stacking is not allowed and all players can only have one skill/stat increase per player regardless of tier and this includes the Pro from nominating a Team Captain. You cannot give additional skills to skilled players, as such the Team Captain special rule can only be added to an unskilled player.
Any unspent cash from upgrades can be spent on team building however unspent cash from team building cannot be spent on upgrades.
As the teams arrive in Neo Nuffleheim, each team is seen by the robodoc. As a welcome gift (and because the robodoc is a bit upgrade obsessed) they give out one free Cyborg implant to each team.
You may add one of the following cyborg implants to one of the linemen (0-16 player) on your team for free, it does not count towards your build cost. The lineman must be unskilled, you cannot give it to a skilled player.
You can choose your implant from the following list:
The amount available for upgrades and the amount of stars you can hire depends on your race's tier as shown below:
Each upgrade is priced as below:
