Winter Blood Bowl Tournament
"In Vulcania, winter is not fought. It is played."
The Vulcania Bowl is a tournament designed to enjoy Blood Bowl in a different way.
The competition is played in pairs, but each coach plays his own matches.
Each pair will be made up of two coaches who will choose two different races.
During the tournament, both coaches will have to play with both of the pair's races, so that by the end of the four rounds each player will have played:
This forces players to collaborate, try different teams and, above all, accept that some of your partner's decisions may ruin your tournament.
The tournament will have a maximum of:
16 coaches (8 pairs of 2 players)
Each pair must choose:
The two races must be different.
Example: SONS OF ICE
Both races belong to the same pair throughout the tournament.
The tournament will have:
4 rounds with Swiss system.
The winner will be the team that finishes first (according to the sum of their individual scores) in the standings.
Additionally, there will be an individual ranking.
Here is the main particularity of the III Vulcania Bowl.
Each team must prepare two complete rosters:
Both rosters belong to the same pair. During the tournament, each coach of the pair will use both teams.
Before the tournament begins, the order of the races will be drawn.
Each pair will have:
At the start of the tournament, the team captain will roll a die and the result will determine which roster the team starts the tournament with:
From there they will alternate:
Therefore, all players will play exactly: 2 matches with each roster.
This prevents someone from strategically deciding to play all afternoon with their favorite race.
Each team must create a roster for each of the two races.
The two rosters are considered independent. Each of the pair's rosters must be of different races. And UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY THEY BE MODIFIED DURING THE TOURNAMENT.
Racial Extreme: The pair of coaches will create the rosters based on the following restrictions:
Example:
Another Example:
The following budgets will be used:
The goal is for less competitive races to have somewhat more budget without unbalancing the tournament.
Here is one of the great hallmarks of the Vulcania Bowl.
⭐ Mandatory Star Player
Each roster must mandatorily hire: 1 Star Player.
The Star Player must be one of the Star Players allowed for that race and can never be from the list of Forbidden Star Players (see below).
Second Star Player
It is allowed to hire: 1 optional second Star Player, provided the budget allows it and the current rules permit such combination.
Each team will receive the following budget for skills according to its Tier.
Cost:
Skills must be assigned before the tournament.
Restrictions: Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams may not stack skills on the same player.
Exception: Tier 3 teams may place up to: 2 skills on the same player.
No player may have more than two additional skills.
Skills must be legal for the player according to the current Blood Bowl rules used in the tournament.
Star Players do NOT count towards the roster's minimum player count, so you must have 11 field players beforehand.
Each roster must meet all normal team composition requirements.
Incentives contemplated in the official rules used for the tournament are allowed.
Not allowed:
Each round will have a maximum duration of:
⏱️ 2 hours and 15 minutes

If mathematically it were not possible to avoid some matchup, the organization will decide the pairing.
