You are given 1,150,000 gold pieces to build your team. You may purchase players, rerolls, fan factor, coaches, and cheerleaders as normal with this money. Each coach must purchase a minimum of 11 players that can include a Star Player or Mega-star player. Remember, the HIGHLANDER Rule is in effect: You CANNOT have the same Star Player as your opponent. If both of you attempt to field the same player, then that Star Player has swindled you both! Neither of you can field them.
Inducements allowed: Bribes, Chef, Orcish Red Kegs, BYOB, Star Players, Team Mascots, and Riotous Rookies
Skills: Teams will receive Skill Points and can assign Primary (1pt) and Secondary (2pts) skills. Any player may only have 1 additional skill. Only four (4) of a particular Elite Skill (i.e., Block, Dodge, Guard, Mighty Blow) may be added to a roster.
Tier 1 (5 skill points, +1 Free Orcish Red Keg - OR - BYOB)
Tier 2 (7 skill points, +1 Free Orcish Red Keg - OR - BYOB, 1 Blessing of St. Punchtrick)
Tier 3 (9 skill points, +2 Free Orcish Red Kegs - OR - BYOB, 1 Blessing of St. Punchtrick)
Star players may be purchased using not only the provided gold but also at the expense of a team's skills. Mega-stars cost 4 skill points while other stars cost 2 skill points. Duo stars will not have an additional tax for the second Star Player beyond the original skill tax, though many are listed as Mega-stars. You may hire a maximum of 1 Star Player.
Mega-stars:
All beer served at the St. Punchtrick's Day Shamrock Smackdown tournament is this special Orcish brew. Some teams are wary of the strong brew and will attempt to bring their own beers to the festivities, but the organizers tend not to tolerate such disrespect of their favored hero. NOTE: Norse Beer Boars are considered to have Orcish Red beer unless the BYOB inducement has been purchased. Any character affected by Pick-Me-Up also receives the Drunkard trait for the remainder of the drive.
Orcish Red Keg (50k GP) - Orcish Red kegs act as normal kegs, with the following exception: Any player recovered receives the Drunkard trait for the drive, and can stand up after being knocked down at the cost of 2 points of movement instead of the usual 3.
BYOB Keg (50k) - BYOB Kegs act as normal Kegs with the following exception: Before a coach makes rolls for KO'd players, roll 1D6. On a 2+ the recovery rolls are made as normal. On a 1, a random KO'd player is returned to the KO box without making a recovery roll. Any BYOB kegs are then replaced with Orcish Red kegs.
Blessing of St. Punchtrick - If a team is given a Blessing of St. Punchtrick, at the beginning of the match, ONE non-big guy player is given Jump Up for the first half. During the halftime sequence, the opposing team receives the Blessing for the second half. If both teams have this Blessing, the player who received Jump Up retains it for the second half instead of passing the Blessing.
During each round, you will fill out a score sheet to track your progress. At the end of the match, you will add up the scoring as follows:
A WIN is 60 points
A DRAW is 30 points
A LOSS is 10 points
If you cause 1 more CAS than your opponent, you earn +3 bonus points
If you caused 2 or more CAS than your opponent, you earn +6 bonus points (does not stack with the +3)
If you lose by 1 TD, you earn +2 bonus points
If you win by 2 Touchdowns you earn +5 bonus points
If you win by 3 Touchdowns or more you earn +10 bonus points (does not stack with the +5)
There is no championship game, the standings will solely be determined by total points. In the case of a tie, head to head results will be taken into account, including bonus points against that opponent, followed by strength of schedule (total points earned by all opponents), followed by a coin flip.
All Casualties will count regardless of the cause!!!
(Tournament Organizer will break any ties)
