Applicable Rules
The tournament will consist of four rounds, with pairings made using the Swiss system. The first opponent will be assigned randomly, but avoiding people from the same province/club playing together.
Challenge Round: A challenge may be issued for the first round, but it must be accepted by the opponent on BBT.
(We are considering the possibility of holding the challenge round the day before.)
Miniatures must correctly represent their position, clearly distinguishable; it is recommended to paint the bases in different colors according to the player's position:
- Big Guy = Blue (if not otherwise distinguishable)
- Special = Purple
- Blitzer = Red
- Defense = Green
- Runner/Catcher = Yellow
- Thrower = White
- Lineman = Gray/Black
NOTE: If, in the opinion of one of the players, the positionals are not clearly distinguished and the referees agree, the player who has not properly differentiated their positionals will have 0 in the Fan Factor roll and their opponent will get an immediate +2 to Fan Factor.
Players with additional skills must be differentiated in some way that allows the opponent to distinguish them. It is recommended to put colored bands around the minis, following a color code to more quickly identify the additional skill (details not specified).
Tournament Events
- Blessing of the Mother Goddess (once per tournament/team)
- Before making an Armour or Injury roll (own or opponent's), the coach may declare that they invoke the blessing.
- They may reroll that roll.
- They must accept the second result.
- Cannot be used on Regeneration rolls.
- The Warlord's Fury
- The player who causes the most casualties during the tournament receives the honorary title of "Caudillo de la Atalaya" (Warlord of the Watchtower).
- In case of a tie, it is broken by most KOs, and if it persists, by draw.
- Terrain of the Oppidum
- During the first round of the tournament, the terrain is uneven and dusty.
- On each team's first turn, the first player who makes a "Rush" must reroll the die if they get a 1.
- Only affects the first Rush of the first turn.
- The Blood Oath (once per match)
- Before the match begins, each coach may designate a player as their "Sworn Warrior."
- If that player causes a casualty during the match, the team gains 1 temporary cheerleader until the end of the match.
Words of the Oppidum on Field Conduct
Let all who cross the sacred stone remember this:
There are warriors whose spirit burns high, and who celebrate their deeds with a powerful voice and fired-up blood.
And there are others who fight in silence, focused like the hunter before the throw.
Neither way is dishonorable.
But let the one whose voice wishes to rise like a war horn first ask their rival whether such clamor is welcome or hurts their composure.
Let respect precede the shout.
If anyone breaks this code of honor, any warrior who feels aggrieved can and should go to the Judges of the Oppidum.
They will approach the combat table, mediate with fair words, and closely monitor the match.
And if the attitude persists, if the disorder does not stop, the Judges may declare the match concluded and decree a two-to-zero defeat for the offender of honor.
This law does not only govern the clamor of voice.
It also covers any unworthy trickery:
- Delaying time as one who hides the sun.
- Removing dice before the opponent has seen their fate.
- Arguing in bad faith about already agreed-upon tools.
- Or seeking advantage outside the fair play of the field.
Whoever is caught in such murky dealings will be judged by the organization, and may be expelled from the tournament as a traitor is expelled from the wall.
Remember:
This is not a field for cheating.
It is a field for courage.
If someone must win, let them do so with true honor and with all the laws of fair war.
Respect your opponent.
Because the honor of one is the honor of the whole Oppidum.
