MattyAss' Birthday Bash Ruleset
Help me celebrate my Birthday by playing in our first Dungeon Bowl Tournament of Blood Bowl 2025! The tournament will take place at Lantzalot Game Store in Blockhouse on April 4th. Entry fees are $20, but the entry fee will be waived if you enter the Star Player Gift Exchange!
This game will follow the general rules and player stats from Blood Bowl 2025. Players that have changed in 2025, such as Big ‘Un Blockers, Beastmen Linemen, Bloaters, etc, are considered to use their 2025 stats and costs. Actions like Secure the Ball, throwing a team mate and passing on the same turn, etc, are allowed. Team composition will still follow the Colleges of Magic from Dungeon Bowl 2021. Team Building
Each team has a 1.1 million gold pieces draft budget to build their team. Players must include 11 players in their roster before buying any inducements. Only inducements included in the official dungeon bowl rulebook may be purchased.
Each team has 24 SPP to spend on skills. Primary skills start at 6 SPP and secondary skills at 12 SPP. Skill stacking is permitted, but the price of additional skills will increase as described in the official rulebook.
Teams MAY NOT draft any Star Players. Instead if you receive a Star Player from the Star Player Gift Exchange you must include that player on your roster.
Game Format
Each game will use predetermined Dungeon Bowl maps that will be provided at the tournament. Each map will contain 6 portals and 6 chests, 2 of which will contain bombs, 1 will contain throwable bombs, and the other 3 will contain balls. The games will follow “best of three” scoring, the player who scores 2 touchdowns wins but the match will continue until either all 3 balls are scored or time runs out. If after 1 hour not all of the balls have been discovered, the next chest to be opened will automatically contain a ball until all of the balls have been discovered, after this time all remaining chests will be considered to automatically contain bombs and will explode when opened. After 90 minutes if both teams are tied the game will enter “sudden death” and the next player to score a touchdown will win. If after 2 hours both teams are still tied the game will be considered a draw, otherwise the player with the highest score wins.
Your tournament score will be a total of the following:
3 Points for a win
1 Point for a draw
0 Points for a defeat
Tie breakers will be decided by the number of touchdowns, followed by number of casualties.
Prizes will be awarded to the first place winner, runner up, most casualties, and best painted Star Player (must be painted after March 1st), as well as some additional secret prizes to be revealed at the tournament.
Special Rules
Cindy’s Birthday Cakes
Cindy Piewhistle has been hired to cater for the event. 1 Chest in every dungeon will contain throwable bombs. Any player that opens that chest will automatically add the Bombardier trait to their Skills.
The Star Player Gift Exchange
Everyone knows the best part of Birthdays is the presents! For this tournament, I invite everyone attending to enter a Gift Exchange. On March 1st everyone who has signed up will be given the name of another player who will attend, and you must bring in a painted mini of a Star Player and give it to that player on the day of the tournament. Only Star Players who have rules in Blood Bowl 2025 are eligible. Players are allowed to give Star Players that they had already painted before March 1st but painting a new one is encouraged.
If a player did not meet the March 1st sign up deadline for the Star Player Gift Exchange I will run a second gift exchange where you will not be given the name of another player, you should just bring in a painted Star Player to the tournament that you will give away to another player.
Everyone who participates in the Star Player Gift Exchange must add the player they received to their roster for the remainder of the tournament. This will affect the total team value of their roster, so at the start of each game players will compare their team values and the player with the lower team value will be eligible to purchase inducements as described in the Dungeon Bowl 2021 rulebook. Only Inducements from Dungeon Bowl 2021 are allowed.
Players who do not participate in the Star Player Gift Exchange will instead be given Gary the Goblin. Gary has the same stats as a Goblin Journeyman but has the special rule Cake Thief, and he has a value of 100k.
Cake Thief - Once per game, if Gary the Goblin is standing next to a player who has gained the Bombardier trait by opening a chest, Gary may perform this action to gain the Bombardier trait and the other player loses the Bombardier trait. Following this action Gary’s activation immediately ends.
This tournament does not take place at an official GW location, so official GW models are not required. Kitbashes and alternate models are allowed and encouraged.
