The Challenge
All across the country, one question echoes louder than a troll's stomach at halftime: "Are The Queen City Doom Divers really as good as they say they are?"
Well… we've decided it's time to settle that once and for all. The Doom Divers aren't just running a tournament - we're throwing down the gauntlet to every coach, team, and would-be legend across the globe. If you think you've got the guts, the grit, and the questionable decision-making skills required to topple us, then step right up. We're inviting the world's finest (and, more importantly, the world's funniest) to prove they can out-bash, out-score, or at least out-survive us on the pitch.
Why? Because if we're going to brag - and let's be honest, we are always bragging - we might as well give everyone a fair shot at proving us wrong.
Expect wild plays. Expect dramatic fumbles. Expect at least one coach to blame the dice, the weather, the ref, the moon phase, or "that one goblin over there." And above all, expect the Doom Divers to bring the same chaotic charm, competitive fire, and good-natured nonsense that defines our league. So polish your armor, lace up your boots, and prepare your excuses.
The Queen City Doom Divers are challenging the world - and we can't wait to see who answers.
The Rules
Each coach will have 1,150,000-1,200,000 gold as well as 36-60 SPP to build their roster, depending on the tier of their chosen race. Any unspent gold is lost, and all teams are treated as having the same Current Team Value (CTV) for inducement purposes.
Gold may be spent on:
- Players
- Star Players
- Rerolls
- Assistant Coaches
- Cheerleaders
- Apothecary
- Inducements
Star Players
Traditional Star Players are allowed but discouraged. To reflect this:
- Add +20k to the hiring cost as well as 6 SPP tax for any Star Player
- Add +40k to the hiring cost as well as 12 SPP tax for any Mega-Star
- Highlander Rule is in effect (no duplicate stars across the event)
In addition, several Doom Divers Legends and Cabbage Cup fan favorites are available as Star Players without any extra fee.
Allowed Inducements
- Blitzer's Best Kegs
- Bribes
- Halfling Master Chef
- Riotous Rookies
- Team Mascot
- Weather Mage
- Wizard: Sports-Wizard
Resurrection Format
This is a resurrection tournament:
- No SPP are gained
- Injuries, casualties, and deaths do not carry over between games
Masters of Undeath
Undead and Necromantic teams may use the Masters of Undeath special rule. Any players gained through this rule are removed from the roster after the game in which they were earned.
Roster Size
- Minimum: 11 players
- Maximum: 16 players (including Star Players)
- Star Players may be induced to reach 11 players
- Teams may roster a maximum of two Star Players
Special Rules
Stalling
Stalling will be enforced as described on page 80 of the Main Rulebook, with the following adjustments:
- Rolling to see if a player can activate (Animal Savagery, Bloodlust, Bonehead, Really Stupid, Take Root) does NOT protect you from being checked for stalling.
- A D8 will be used instead of a D6 when checking for stalling.
Big Guy Touchdowns Fuel the Mascot
The Doom Divers have an unhealthy love for chaos - and really, who's surprised? And what screams pure, beautiful, crowd-pleasing mayhem louder than a Big Guy rumbling into the end zone? That's right: nothing. Absolutely nothing.
To celebrate this reckless glory, each time a player with the Big Guy trait scores a touchdown, your team gains one additional use of its Team Mascot.
Eligible Big Guys: Deathroller, Kroxigor, Minotaur, Mummy, Ogre, Rat Ogre, Rotspawn, Treeman, Tomb Guardian, Troll, Vargheist, Yhetee
Mascot Gain:
- If you did NOT roster a Team Mascot: you gain one use of a Mascot.
- If you DID roster a Team Mascot: you gain one additional use of it.
- There is no limit to how many additional uses you may acquire
Usage Rules:
Gained Mascot uses function exactly as described on page 144 of the Main Rules, with these exceptions:
- Gained Mascot uses MUST be spent before any other re-roll.
- 1 Unused Mascot use carries over from match to match until it's used.
Tiers
- Tier 1 - 1,150,000 Gold budget, 36 SPP: Amazon, Dark Elf, High Elf, Lizardmen, Old World Alliance, Vampire, Wood Elf
