SPECIAL RULES:
Each game played in the Great Plains Open is played at one of the home stadiums. Before each match, roll a d6:
1 - You are playing in Saskatchewan. The game is just as plain and boring as the province. The game is played with standard rules.
2 - Winnipeg
3 - Edmonton
4 - Calgary
5 - Lethbridge
6 - Roll off! The highest roll gets their choice of location.
Each location is described below:
Winnipeg Pitch - Winnipeg is known for their hungry mosquitos and rabid fans! Each drive, just before set up, one randomly selected player is so bothered by the bugs that they take reprieve in the clubhouse and cannot take part in the action. They will return for the next drive, and will not leave for a second time during this match. In addition, any crowd-surfers are greeted by the surliest crowd imaginable! Add +1 to the resulting injury roll any time a player is pushed into the crowd.
Edmonton Pitch - The legislature of Alberta is widely recognized for being “open for business” and as such, the officials at this particular venue are notoriously pliable. At the start of each half, each team gains a free Bribe Inducement. Note that, if a team does not use its free Bribe during the first half, it is lost in red tape and bureaucracy. In addition, being the frozen north, the pitch is routinely covered in ice! This results in a ball that will keep bouncing off the hard ground. Every time, after a ball bounces and is not caught or recovered, it will bounce a second time in a direction determined by rolling a D8 and referring to the Random Direction template.
Calgary Pitch - There is a lot of money flowing through the corporate offices of Cow-Town, and that means that all teams are given top-notch, first-class medical assistance. During Step 4 of the pre-game sequence, a team that can hire an apothecary is granted a free Wandering Apothecary Inducement.
In the case of teams that are unable to hire an apothecary:
A team with the 'Masters of Undeath' special rule is granted a free Mortuary Assistant Inducement.
A team with the 'Favoured of Nurgle' special rule is granted a free Plague Doctor Inducement.
In addition, any player who has been sent off from being caught for fouling is given a high-priced lawyer who immediately advocates for him or her. During Step 2 of the end of a drive sequence, each coach rolls a D6 for each of their players that have been Sent-off for any reason. On a roll of 5+, the player is returned to the Reserves box.
Lethbridge Pitch - Lethbridge is known for their rural infrastructure and gusty winds. Their field, a converted cattle feedlot, is riddled with divots and knobs - tripping hazards abound! All players suffer a -1 modifier to their MA for the duration of this game, to a minimum of MA3. However, players can attempt to Rush one extra square during their activation. This means most players can attempt to Rush three times, whilst players with the Sprint skill, for example, can attempt to Rush four times. In addition, due to the wind, each kick-off will see the ball move an extra square after it deviates, but before the kick-off table is rolled. Place the throw-in template facing one of the two sidelines (randomly chosen) and move the ball one additional space according to the rolled d6.
Prizes: Local Champion for each location, plus Grand Champion (highest score at all 4 locations)
All proceeds will be used to support the events locally.
Each coach will receive a pair of d6’s for the event.
