The Norse invasion of Lustria is on. As their longboats hit the sands and rabid norsemen poured into the jungles, their trusty companions the beer boars joined them... and they have joined your tourney as well! Come join us and go hog wild in a kickoff Sevens event to Chaos Cup weekend in Orlando!
Blood Bowl Sevens is a shorter, quicker version of the sport played on a smaller pitch by players who weren’t quite good enough to make it into the big leagues.
We will be using the official Second Season 7s rules from the 2021 Death Zone, as well as that manual's pricing for inducements (no desperate measures).
IN SHORT:
- All Blood Bowl 2020 races & rosters available from the Second Season Rulebook, Teams of Legend pdf, Spike! Magazines and the 2022 Almanac, as well as the NAF-approved roster for Slann. The updated 2020 rules roster for any Spike! Magazine team is also approved for any race issued at least 45 days prior to the tourney (updates will be given if Grandma Wendy issues a new team relatively close in proximity).
- No star players are allowed
- 600,000 gp to spend on your team
- You must hire 7 and up to 11 players, and only 4 non-linemen types allowed (your 0-12 positional)
- Re-rolls cost double (they’re amateurs)
- Inducements must be bought at team creation, at the pricing provided in the Death Zone manual. No wizards, infamous coaching staff, desperate measures, or other inducements not listed in the Sevens Rules may be induced (see Death Zone p.93 for a full list of allowed inducements).
- Don't have access to a Death Zone? Contact the TO, and we can walk through it together to build you a roster.
SKILLS: 1 normal/primary skill per team. Per BB2020 7s rules, Leader is allowed.
Weather table: Winter Weather (below)
2: Cold Winds - The fans are shivering in the stands as a viciously cold wind blows steadily down the pitch. Apply a -1 modifier every time a player tests against their Passing Ability. Players also find it harder to get motivated and get back on the pitch. Additionally, during Step 2 of the End of Drive sequence, apply a -1 modifier when rolling to see if any player in the Knocked out box recovers.
3. Freezing - A sudden cold snap turns the ground as hard as granite (and not the ‘astro’ variety that players are used to). When a player Falls Over or is Knocked Down, the coach of the opposing team must apply a +1 modifier when making an Armour roll against them.
4-10. Perfect Conditions (well, almost) - It’s rather chilly and it’s threatening to rain (or snow), but considering the time of year, the conditions are almost perfect for Blood Bowl.
11. Heavy Snow - The snow is several feet deep, making it very difficult indeed to run up and punch someone! When a player performs a Block action as part of a Blitz action, (but not on its own), their Strength characteristic is reduced by 1 when comparing their Strength against the Strength of the target of the Block action.
12. Blizzard - Freezing conditions and heavy falls of snow make the footing treacherous. Apply a -1 modifier every time a player attempts to Rush an extra square. Additionally, the poor visibility means that only Quick and Short passes can be attempted.
Unlike last year, we will play with a regular game ball. No tricks this year...sort of...
Pig to the Rescue!
In addition to your roster, each team has a Beer Boar hanging with their team during the game in the reserves box. But the Boars don't like seeing their buddies get hurt! The Boar cannot be set up on your kickoff, but on the first turn you have a player who is Knocked Over (note: not Placed Prone), at the end of that turn the Boar is placed in the center of the end zone that team defends. It can then act as a normal player on that players team for the rest of the drive, and can be CAS'd of KO'd as usual. If the drive ends and the pig is still on the pitch, it is returned to the reserves, and cannot enter the field until a player is Knocked Over on the next drive (if the Boar is CAS'd or KO'd, those rules still apply as normal, and the team does not get another Boar). The beer boar is a normal beer boar from the Norse roster, with the following stats, and cannot be given any skills:
MV 5, ST 1, AG 3+, PA -, AV 6+, Dodge, No Hands, Stunty, Titchy, Pick Me Up.
Pick Me Up: At the end of the opposition’s team turn, roll a D6 for each Prone, non-Stunned team-mate within three squares of a Standing player with this Trait. On a 5+, the Prone player may immediately stand up.
