Game timing:
Games will be played on a chess clock. Each player will have 1:05. If your clock runs out, you may take no actions on your turn(s) until the game is over. After roster introduction and pre-game rolls, the clock may not be paused unless the TO pauses it; this includes post-touchdown and halftime sequences. Playing on a chess clock ensures equitable time distribution and that rounds all finish on time.
Tournament Rules:
• Current “2nd Season” rules for Blood Bowl including Deathzone
• All Spike Magazines to and including the Chaos Dwarves
• The Current GW Official Errata & Designer’s Commentary (Last released May 2025)
• The teams of Legend Document for the High Elf, and Tomb King Rosters
• The NAF Rules for Tournaments Document from January 2024 for the Slann Roster
• Illegal procedure will not be in use
• Normal resurrection rules are in effect – no SPP recorded, injuries do not carry over between games
• Tourney will use the normal weather and kickoff tables. Each table will roll their own weather.
• Only GW or NAF block dice will be allowed.
• You are required to share dice if your opponent requests.
Models must be clearly recognizable for the actual blood bowl model it is or represents and must be a 3-dimensional model. Non-GW sculpts are fine as are proxies which are easily recognized.
For example, playing an elven union team with ‘counts-as’ human blood bowl models is not allowed.
For example, playing with paper standees is not allowed.
If you have any questions relating to the eligibility of your models, please contact the T.O..
Roster Creation:
You are given a variable amount of gold pieces to build your team based on your race selection according to the table below. You may purchase players, rerolls, dedicated fans, coaches, and cheerleaders as normal with this money. Wizards, Journeymen, Special Play cards, and Mercenaries are NOT allowed. You may purchase any other inducements for your team as described in the Blood Bowl 2020 rulebook or Deathzone supplement. Any gold pieces left over after roster creation are lost and may not be further spent on skills.
Find your allowed gold pieces under the “Allowance” column
You may assign skills to players up to your skills allowance in the “Skills” column
- Star players may not have additional skills assigned
- Normal skills cost 1 skill point
- Secondary skills cost 2 skills points
- You may optionally stack 2 skills on player if there is a 1 in the “stacking” column
Star players cost a variable number of skills based on the table below. Only teams with a ‘Y’ in the “Mega?” column may take a Mega Star (as defined in the latest GW FAQ and below) and if they do so, the skill cost for hiring a Mega Stars is listed in the “Mega cost” column. If a Star Player consists of 2 Star players (Grak and Crumbleberry for instance, the skill cost is only applied once).
Additionally:
Dribbl and Druul are considered Mega Stars
Skitter Stab-Stab costs an additional skill point if hired.
Highlander Rule: If two opponents have purchased the same Star Player, they will not play for either team and they keep the money and skill points spent to purchase them.
Pairing and Scoring:
Opponents will be selected randomly for Round 1. Rounds 2 and 3 will be selected using Swiss pairing according to tournament W/T/L records. Coaches are awarded points based on the following:
+25 points for each win
+10 points for each draw
0 points for each loss
+ 1 point per opponent casualty sustained (spectators appreciate all manner of viciousness therefore all casualties, regardless of how they are inflicted, count)
+ 2 points for each touchdown scored
+ 2 points for shutting out your opponent (your opponent did not score any touchdowns)
+10 points in the first round (once for the tourney) for playing fully painted
